Black Ark era o estúdio de gravação do legendário produtor, de reggae e de dub, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, situado no quintal de sua casa em Washington Gardens, subúrbio de Kingston, Jamaica. Embora o estúdio fosse um tanto rudimentar em sua instalação e particularmente básico no que diz respeito a alguns dos equipamentos utilizados, mesmo assim foi um terreno fértil para alguns dos grandes artistas da Jamaica e para inovadoras técnicas de gravação na metade dos anos 70.

A musicalidade da Europa, da América Central e da América do Sul se unem em um único artista. Apesar de ter nascido na cosmopolita Londres e ouvir – desde pequeno – todos os estilos musicais, Geoffrey Chambers foi influenciado pelo amor que os pais sempre tiveram à cultura rastafári. “Lá em casa não existia outro tipo de musica. Só reggae”, lembra. Além do reggae, Geoffrey traz como influência para as composições o jazz, o rock, o funk e o hip hop.

Ao lado de Maurício Ulisses (guitarra e voz), Leandro Nascimento (teclados e voz), Osmundo Cavalcante (contrabaixo e voz) e Léo Barros (bateria), o britânico montou a banda Dread in Brasil e gravou o CD Loveshine, masterizado no Tuff Gong, lendário estúdio da família Marley. O álbum, totalmente autoral, é uma celebração da vida. Nas músicas, mensagens de um amor unificador que independe de raça, religião e política.
