O trio vocal The Abyssinians foi formado em 1969 por Donald Manning, Bernard Collins e Linford Manning. São conhecidos sobretudo pela canção e conseqüente LP "Satta Massagana", que transformou-se numa das canções mais populares do reggae.
Este clássico fala de uma terra distante (no caso, a Etiópia, cujo nome antigo era Abíssinia) onde nunca havia noite, apenas dia. Foi lançado em 1971 e cantado até em igrejas na Jamaica.

Mesmo sem nunca terem alcançado o status de superstars, The Abyssinians estão na ativa até hoje e são uma das bandas mais respeitadas pelos reggaemen ortodoxos. Seus filhos também seguiram a carreira artística. Formaram o Satta.
