Dizem que Sly Dunbar completa Robbie Shakespeare e vice-versa, feito feijão-com-arroz. Pode acreditar: os dois tocam juntos desde os anos 60 e são conhecidos como a maior seção rítmica da história do reggae. Sly (bateria) e Robbie (baixo) tocaram com quase todos os grandes artistas da Jamaica e do mundo: foram da Word, Sound & Power (banda de apoio de Peter Tosh), brilharam na melhor formação do Black Uhuru e incrementaram as carreiras de Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs e muitos outros. Slay & Robbie também fizeram sucesso com astros fora do circuito reggae, como Bob Dylan (no álbum Infidels) e Carly Simon.
