PAPA ZODIAC

Zodiac was born in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. From his childhood he had great passion for music and he sang in the choir. The choir also performed at the Independence Concert in Rufaro Stadium /Harare in 1980 where the legendary "Bob Marley and the Wailers" performed for the Zimbabwe Independence. In 1986 Papa Zodiac left Zimbabwe, went to Kenya and later to Greece. In Athens he joined a Soukous Band from Zaire. In 1988 he went to Germany. There he formed the band "Ngoma Yaya", which was called later "Signs of Zodiac". 1992 Papa Zodiac moved to Freiburg (Germany) and performed at events, Soundsystem Shows and concerts, e.g. "Downtown Street Party, Monkey Jump, Spirit of Reggae in Löffingen or the Regiojam in Neuenburg/Müllheim. In 2004 he played at the Carmada Reggae Festival in South Italy. Since summer 2009 he works together with the reggae band DUB TUB (www.myspace.com/dubtub) from Freiburg. They performed together at the Feurweltfestival in Müllheim/Frankfurt, at the African Festival in Rödelheim and at the beneficial concert in Baden Baden, organisation for Baobab Family and others. .... Zodiac's music is Reggae ina African Style with elements of African Highlife and Soukous. His lyrics talk about human rights, African culture and about the "One Love message". He produced and published three albums, which are "The Signs" (1996), "Pachoto" (Three stones, 2000), "Mbuya na Mai" (2004/05) and "Mbuya na Mai" (2004/05) ..... So to feel the spirit of the African music and the reggae vibrations be there to experience it lively and directly. Jah Jah Spirit
